I have recently retired from full-time teaching, after a successful career preparing students for Mathematics examinations, both as a class teacher and private tutor. I enjoy helping students to reach their full potential and in particular find satisfaction in identifying and removing barriers to their learning.
I have over 30 years' teaching experience, 25 of them at New College, Swindon, where I was Head of Maths and Science in a department rated Grade 1 by Ofsted. During that time I taught mostly AS and A2 Mathematics and Further Mathematics to 16-19 year-olds.
As a Private Tutor I have provided revision support and exam preparation, as well as working with students over the full duration of their A Level courses.
I enjoy working one-to-one with students at all levels, from those struggling with A Level material to Oxbridge candidates.
My approach is exam-oriented. As a one-time examiner I am aware of the many ways students needlessly lose marks - easily avoided with a few pointers from an experienced tutor.
