John

Glasgow Tutor

I take great care to deliver a service to be proud of, whatever the task I am preforming. My strongest skills are in speaking and listening, people often tell me how much my explanations of subjects help them to understand and see connection they had previously missed. I am patient, easy to talk to and I genuinely enjoy helping others to achieve their potential. No matter how hard your work is, no matter frustrating and difficult it may seem, I can help get you through it.

I have a lot of experience of individuals with special learning needs, specifically dyslexia, and I am very understanding of how difficult finding the right learning style can be for some people. I work hard, research exhaustively and make every minute of studying count.

I am very good at helping those who have learned English as a 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th) language and welcome learners of all ability and background.

If you required tuition on an IT subject, be it software or hardware, I can definitely help you understand and learn more. My background is in audio and video technology, which in the modern context is mostly delivered through computer systems. I work professionally with Pro-Tools, Adobe Creative Suite (5 onwards), Final Cut Pro, Word and Excel. I can explain the basics in clear and easy to follow instructions, or refine your skills with creative feedback and professional experience.

Tutoring Experience

I addition to my clients on First Tutors I have worked teaching English as a second language since 2008. I have thought through a variety of subjects, sports/games, maths. art, stories, and reading and writing.

Tutoring Approach

I am dedicated and professional in my work. I enjoy helping people and it gives me great satisfaction to directly effect others in a positive way. I understand that no two students are the same, and the every individual has his or her own learning style. I always aim to find the most effective and enjoyable way to explain a topic, and this ultimately results in better achievement in academic grades. I use many tools and aids to help me communicate, drawing on my background in media and communications. I tailor my lessons to meet each student's needs and I believe the key to a good student-teacher relationship is feedback, the more I know about your needs as a learner the better a job I can do as an educator.

Feel free to contact me to discuss your situation and what your are looking for from a tutor.
