♦ More than 95% of my tutees have achieved the A* ♦ Doctorate in Biochemistry ♦ Teacher and Examiner ♦ Online tuition in Biology and Chemistry, UCAT and BMAT ♦ Specialist in Medical School entrance ♦ I’ve helped 500+ students get into Oxford, Cambridge or Medicine ♦
I studied Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Durham University achieving First class Honours. I then completed a Doctorate in Biochemistry in two years before working as a research scientist at Oxford University. Deciding to become a teacher and tutor I also gained a PGCE whilst at Oxford. I started my teaching career in state schools before taking a Head of Department role at a leading HMC school. I have now worked in top HMC schools for over 25 years, consistently achieving exceptional results for my pupils, and I am also a very experienced examiner. I have well over 10,000 hours of experience as a private tutor and over the last decade the majority of this has been online tuition. More than 95% of my tutees have gained the A* and over a dozen have scored 100% in their A level exam papers. I also have an amazing record with UCAT and BMAT and I have helped over 500 students get into Oxford, Cambridge, or Medicine.
After more than 25 years of outstanding results as a teacher I have decided to become a full time tutor. This will allow me to be available for tuition during the school day as well as on evenings and weekends. I am particularly well set up for both in-person and online tuition with a large garden office and hyperfast fibre. I specialise in online tuition for A level Biology and Chemistry and in helping students to excel in UCAT and BMAT but am also very happy teaching GCSE maths and GCSE sciences. I have over 20 years experience as an examiner and know exactly what is needed to score full marks and what is likely to come up.
I offer interactive lessons and make sure that students fully understand material and that they know how to tackle unseen exam questions. I often have students move up from a D to an A* and I really enjoy tutoring and get a huge amount of pleasure from helping students to do much better than they think they can.
