I am an experience tutor and was a primary school teacher for 25 years, married with a son who recently graduated as a master in mechanical engineering. I have a number of interests including music, reading, cooking and crafts.
I have been in education for 25+ years in a variety of primary schools and with a variety of tutees. I have taught children throughout this range and my classes have included children with special educational needs, those who are gifted and talented and those who are working within the expected level. My management roles have included being subject lead in mathematics and also as SENCo.
I have also tutored children from 5 to 16 in primary subjects, mathematics, English and science at KS3. I have recently gained a diploma in educational psychology, and, through Newbury College, a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism. I am expanding my knowledge through further courses including a dyslexia course.
I believe in finding out what the tutee can do and using this to build a program that will enable them to achieve the level they wish. I aim to build confidence and do not focus on failure. I plan each session carefully building on previous sessions and knowledge and understanding of area.
