I am an English Tutor for Secondary school, both GCSE and A level. I also offer tuition for 11+ (Year 5 onwards) and 13+ exams. I work with all abilities and levels on comprehension, descriptive and narrative writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar, verbal reasoning, persuasive writing, literary analysis of prose, plays and poetry, essay writing and exam techniques.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 10 years of experience as a private tutor. Most of my work comes from referrals and word of mouth.

My recent GCSE students have achieved a minimum of grade 7. My recent A-level students have achieved grades A/A*. I work with A level students on their NEAs in an advisory role.

I have also taught English abroad as a foreign language.

I have a BA Hons Degree in English Literature from the University of London. References are available upon request.

Tutoring Approach

I work with all levels and abilities and I adapt the lessons to suit individual requirements.

For A level and GCSE we often spend a lot of time analysing texts and closer to the exams we focus on essay writing and techniques.

I set work each week if requested which I write myself, specifically targetting each student's learning objectives and targets.

Most of my students send me work they have produced inbetween tuition sessions. I go over this extensively and give them feedback during sessions.
