I hold a BSc (Hons) Mathematics degree and an Msc in Actuarial Science.
I have worked as a Maths teacher and in the financial sector overseas; as an organist and choirmaster (which I still do) and in 2009 as a Mathematics Academic Tutor/Mentor at Stoke Newington School, where I taught GCSE students on a one-to-one basis but occasionally in small groups.
My hobbies include; playing the piano, playing soccer, listening to Classical Music and experiencing different cultures.
I have had a 3 year teaching experience overseas and in 2009 I tutored year 11 students at Stoke Newington School who were preparing for their GCSE exams. The tuition was mainly one-to-one but occasionally in small groups.
Since 2010, i have been mainly involved in one-to-one private tuition.
I believe strongly that students, regardless of their ability, can learn and thrive in a learning environment that is stimulating, comforting and appropriate to their abilities. Hence I always seek to present information in a variety of ways, relating class material to real world examples.
I have also compiled questions and detailed solutions to past GCSE and A Level exam papers. These have been of great help to my students who highly recommend it.
I always get my students to think positively by telling them they can be anything they want to be provided they work hard. To this extent, when my students have had a firm grasp of a topic I seek to challenge them by moving things to a slightly higher level. This has always worked.
I always give my students problems to try after tuition and to submit the answers for marking at our next meeting.
