Hi I’m Jess!

I have a Masters in English Language, a PGCE, and a background in Applied Linguistics and English Language research. I’m Second in Department at one of the highest performing secondary schools in Devon, and last year my GCSE students achieved grades that were, on average, 1.3 grades higher than they were expected. I am successful at promoting and raising reading attainment.

I’m a lover of grammar, books and the wonderful English language! Working with me you’ll gain an infectious passion for English and absorb the richness of this incredible subject.

Tutoring Experience

I have nearly four years teaching experience at a secondary school from ages 11-16. I have taken students through their GCSE English Literature and Language examinations. I also have previous experience teaching in a small A-level group for both English Language and Literature. I am very familiar with various exam boards and I have been an examiner for AQA for last summer’s series.
