Hello, I’m Yi but I go by Jerry. I am 19 years old and studying Economics and Management at King’s College London.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring on FirstTutors since March of 2023. I also have further experience by being a part of an organisation providing free tutoring to children with mental and physical disabilities. Furthermore, I have achieved top grades academically. Most notably my IB grades which are equivalent of an A* in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Economics.

Tutoring Approach

I firmly believe that to excel at anything you must truly have a passion for it. That is why although maintaining a strict professional environment, I want the student to enjoy and have fun during the lessons.

The first thing that I strive to establish with a student is a core understanding on all the fundamental knowledge. Followed by working through questions and past papers. Outside the exam hall I do not want the student to only care about if they got the correct answer or not. Instead, I encourage fully understanding the journey on how they arrived there, as well as, why they make their mistakes and how we can correct them.

Although this is my preferred approach to teaching, I am always open to criticisms and suggestions. I personally believe that patience and the ability to alter the strategy are two of the most fundamental building blocks in many scenarios, but most importantly whilst teaching.
