I am a retired schoolmaster with a grown up family and I live on the edge of the Bournemouth/Poole conurbation, looking towards the north Dorset countryside. I am involved in the local community and enjoy playing golf and traveling to visit my family overseas.
I have been in the teaching profession from 1976 - 2011. I have taught in a secondary school in South Africa for 9 years. This was followed by 6 years in a Prep school in Kent, 4 years as Headmaster of a Prep school in Kenya and 17 years as Deputy Headmaster of a Prep school in Dorset. During this time I have taught Latin, Greek, History and some French and RS. Since I retired, I have been tutoring students to sit GCSE and A level Latin exams for the OCR Board
One to one tuition provides a wonderful chance for students to make rapid progress in their study of Latin. I encourage my students to have a secure knowledge of the grammatical foundation of the language, before tackling more advanced language work and literary texts. I am very enthusiastic about the language, culture and history of the Romans, and try to use a broad approach with my students.
