I am a qualified teacher and SENCo with 30+ years teaching experience in both primary and secondary age ranges. Now semi-retired I have been successfully tutoring privately for many years and I have been working in schools as part of the National Tutoring Programme. I tutor individual pupils on a 1-1.

N.B. I currently only have day time availability as all my 'after school' times are taken.

Tutoring Experience

I teach a wide range of ages and abilities including those with SpLD. My extensive experience includes working as a class teacher, Special Needs support teacher and Special Needs Coordinator. I am trained in Reading Recovery and have a full working knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements. I am qualified to complete Dyslexia Diagnostic Assessments for children with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and Access Arrangements for examinations which I now do informally. I originally trained and worked as a Primary Teacher but now tutor English to children in all Key Stages and support college students.

Tutoring Approach

I offer high quality, multi-sensory tuition to motivate and build confidence, which is individually tailored to suit your child. I have up to date resources and a wealth of strategies to help support pupils. My specialism is with English Language. I teach comprehension, reading, spelling, phonics and 11+ exam preparation, SATS/exam techniques and English Language GCSE. I support children with a range of SpLD in all areas. I teach Functional Skills, support College/University students and proof read assignments. I have an excellent exam success rate.
I am very friendly and have an excellent rapport with all my pupils. I understand that your children’s happiness and their education is vitally important.
