My name is Jenna and I have 12 years of teaching experience. I have lived in Nottingham since 2013 (originally from Suffolk), and am just getting to the stage where I start to think of myself as a local! I currently live with my lovely husband, our 8-year old daughter, 6-year old son and our dog.
I have been a teacher since 2010. I trained in Birmingham and have taught in schools in Birmingham/West Bromwich, Peterborough and Nottingham. Although I have taught a variety of subjects (History, RE - as well as Sociology, Psychology, etc.), my main passions are social sciences. I studied Sociology at GCSE and that's where my interest in these subjects developed. I have taught both Sociology and Psychology to A Level, as well as studying both to that level myself. I have also taught Health and Social Care and Childcare BTEc at Level 1, 2 & 3.
I like to approach teaching in friendly, honest and open manner. I think its important to build a good relationship with students and a degree of easy-going humour does help that to manifest! Having worked in secondary schools, I am also acutely aware of the stress that students feel in the lead up to exams and like to work on the principle of planning, preparation and practice (alliteration!)! I think its important that students focus on engaging and understanding the topics as well as completing revision questions, practice exams, and getting to grips with mark schemes. I have the benefit of 7+ years of experience (and resources!) - and modestly believe, I constantly facilitate students in getting the results they desire.
