Home Tuition for English in Worcester

A highly-qualified former Assistant Head Teacher and Head of English Faculty at a number of outstanding schools. DBS checked, current working knowledge of classroom practice and new GCSE specs. Trained for dyslexic, ADHD and autistic students. I have delivered individualised private tuition for several years with outstanding results, developing excellent and motivating relationships with my students.

Tutoring Experience

Life-long experience as secondary teacher of English, Head of English faculties in a number of schools and former Assistant Head Teacher with responsibility for Special Needs and Dyslexia. I've also been a private 1-1 English tutor for the last 8 years. I'm fully conversant with the current GCSE specs for all exam boards and have written numerous courses for the delivery of KS3, GCSE and A-Level English Language and Literature; I have extensive experience of supporting university students with degree-level assignments and dissertations. I've worked in junior school classrooms and have tutored 1-1 over several years, including to non-native speakers of English who are both youngsters and adult learners. During the pandemic, all my tutoring moved online via Skype or Zoom. This proved very successful and kept my students on track in the absence of a consistent classroom experience.

Tutoring Approach

I love working with students, building on an excellent relationship to motivate and tailor schemes of work to their individual needs and anxieties. Self-belief and the confidence to ask questions if they don't understand enables students to make excellent progress and they are challenged to push their knowledge and understanding within an examination/assessment context.
