I am a calm, patient and enthusiastic tutor, with 4 years experience and a BSc, BA and a MA. Married with 2 children, I worked as a medical scientist in both Australia and England, where I was able to put the science I had studied at university into daily, professional practice.
Despite my passion for science, I was drawn back to my first love: English and history, and I studied for a BA , majoring in Literature, followed by a MA in Mediaeval Studies.
Since starting professional tutoring 4 years ago, I have thoroughly enjoy the opportunities, and challenges, of sharing my expertise and interests with my students.
As a senior scientist I spent a considerable amount of time training and supervising students. I have worked with children and teenagers in voluntary roles in school, church and community groups. I also have some experience working with children and adults with special needs, particularly in areas of the autistic spectrum, anxiety issues and dyslexia.
I am a friendly, calm and patient person. I listen to both the student and parent (where appropriate) to attempt to locate any problems and to plan an individual approach to the subject. Although each student is unique, there are a number of common issues that affect many students, and I have experience, and resources, dealing with them. I am also able to support students with exam and revision techniques.
