This is how 2 referees rated Jamie:
Maths, Chemistry and Biology tutor. I graduated from Edinburgh University with a masters degree in Chemistry (MChem), completing a year in industry working as a process development chemist accounting for my 4th year. I have also completed a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Chemical Engineering, covering a wide range of applied Chemistry and Mathematics. I am an associated member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (AMRSC) and also a registered scientist (RSci).
I am currently studying for my PhD in Environmental Engineering at Glasgow Caledonian University in collaboration with the prestigious research institute, James Hutton, which is one of the most recognised institutes in the world for carrying out environmental research.
I have been tutoring maths, chemistry and biology/human biology for 5 years. From my experience of private tutoring, every student is different and requires a different approach of teaching style to ensure that they are getting the most out of each session. I offer 1 to 1 sessions for 60 and 90 minutes, and also group sessions (up to 3). I cover a range of teaching techniques in my sessions such as; explaining specific sections of the course work, past paper questions and how to approach exam questions. Using these techniques ensures that the students I teach receive excellent marks in their exam.
I believe planning well in advance is the key to success. Delivering large amounts of work in a short period of time can have a negative impact on the individuals learning experience. Planning and breaking down the course into manageable portions in realistic timescales will ensure that the material being taught can be consolidated successfully. Each tutoring session will have a goal before moving onto the next to prevent information overload, which again can have a negative impact on learning. My tutoring sessions will be fun, but will also be very structured and focused on the end result which is to improve the individual's knowledge in the subject and to pass their exams.

My son was comfortable with him from the first lesson, and is happy with how the tutoring is going. Jamie is helping him to understand the maths he failed to grasp throughout the year at school, and my son says it is a big help. He is now more confident in areas he was struggling with before.
My initial plan was to work with Jamie over the summer to get my son up to speed before the start of the new year, but going forward I would hope to continue weekly lessons as they are undoubtedly beneficial.
Jamie is a very polite and patient tutor who I would have no hesitation in recommending and I hope he will be a source of support to my children's education for the future.
Weekends are the best as after school's are always busy for us to travel.
Sadia still needs to book her next session with Jamie.
Very accommodating and has lots of patients. Jamie is currently tutoring my daughter through some difficult
Parts of her chemistry course. Keep up the good work and many thanks!
