Jacqueline

I studied physics and mathematics in university and obtained a bachelors and masters degree in physics. I then completed a doctorate in theoretical particle physics and then continued to study mathematical finance and obtain a masters in this area. In addition to teaching physics at university level, I have several years of work experience in the financial sector, working for banks and insurance companies as well as the regulator.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught physics and mathematics from elementary school to university level for several years. I have conducted tutorials in Canada, the UK, for high school as well university level students. I have also taught physics as a university professor in the US where in addition to formal lectures and laboratory sessions, I helped some students with learning difficulties achieve their goals.

I specialise in General Physics and Mathematics, as well as more advanced subjects such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, Classical and Quantum Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics, Probability Theory and Statistics.

Tutoring Approach

I am patient, calm and approachable and have a great love and enthusiasm for teaching.
In a first session, I try to understand the areas where improvement is needed. A solid foundation is important in any mathematical subject. An understanding of the theoretical concepts is a necessity as is the proper application of the theoretical ideas and techniques and development of problem solving skills. Practice problems are the best way to achieve this and I place great emphasis on solving problems.
