Bilingual (English and Welsh) teacher and head of department for Business and Computing. I have been teaching since 2011. I love creating engaging resources to enhance the learning experience for students. I have one son, I enjoy playing rugby, mountain walks and keeping fit. I currently teach in a bilingual secondary school.

Tutoring Approach

I begin with an initial consultation to understand the content you have covered within your qualification, the content you would like to recover and any future content that you would need assistance on.

I will also discuss any additional learning needs and barriers to learning you may have and how I can support these such as chunking, dual coding and writing frames.

I then devise a teaching, assessment, tracking and marking calendar focussed on these needs to ensure you make strong progress within the necessary timeframe.

The lessons within the calendar will include the knowledge and skills required for your qualification but also include cultural knowledge to deepen your understanding of how the subject fits into the world around you and any potential career aspirations you may have.

Implemented inside the lessons will be a range of strategies to embed knowledge recall and a love of the subject. These include:

• Regular medium and long term retrieval of previous knowledge
• Clear explanation and instruction of the topic within the current lesson
• Modelling of quality: how to achieve the marks and where common misconceptions occur
• Time for you to practice these taught skills and knowledge independently to encourage deep thinking and learning and to stretch and challenge yourself.
• Marking, tracking, feedback and remedial steps of your work.
• Issue homework for you to independently strengthen your knowledge and skills in-between tutoring sessions

I also include ongoing diagnostic, cumulative, formative and summative assessment along with a breakdown of past papers.
