I'm Ian. I'm a paralegal by profession who practises in the SEND, Employment and Employment Appeal Tribunals, County Court (including the Business & Property Courts in the County Court), Queens Bench & Chancery Divisions of the High Court and the Court of Appeal Civil Division. I intend to train as a barrister at some point.
I have dyspraxia & Irlen Syndrome as well as other disabilities hence do like to help disabled students as well as non-disabled students. I really love teaching law as it is a very varied, ever changing and interesting subject. I volunteer with the Cadet Forces in my spare time which I find to be very rewarding in so many ways.
I am Jewish hence tend not tutor on Saturdays.
I have a number of years of tutoring students (especially LLB QLD, GDL and LLM QLD students). I tend to focus on the 7 core law subjects (contract, public [aka constitutional & administrative law], land, equity & trusts, criminal, EU, tort) and study skills.
My sessions tend to be similar to seminars in that it will be a discussion between myself and the student(s) regarding a particular subject and/or problem. Often the session will cover a student's coursework question(s) or mock exam question, at other times, I and the student(s) will cover seminar type questions regarding one of the subjects that I teach. I find that this helps students as I will normally ask for coursework/seminar questions, or set seminar type questions, in advance so that I and the student are prepared for a session.
