Ian

I am a PGCE qualified science tutor working in Oxfordshire (specialising in Chemistry and Physics to A-level with experience of teaching and tutoring AQA and OCR courses).

Since graduating in 2000 I worked in academic and commercial research across many areas of chemistry. I currently undertake commercial research in structural biology, helping design the latest pharmaceuticals.

I enjoy sharing my extremely wide ranging technical and teaching expertise and enthusiasm for the subject with the next generation of scientists.

Tutoring Experience

Secondary level:

  • Teaching all sciences at KS3 and KS4 (AQA)
  • Teaching Chemistry and Physics at KS5 (AQA and OCR)

  • Tutoring A-level students in Chemistry

  • Tutoring GCSE students in Maths, Physics and Biology

University Level:

  • Tutoring 1st-3rd year undergraduate students in Inorganic Chemistry
  • Written, presented and examined undergraduate lecture courses in Organic Chemistry, Spectroscopy and Redox Chemistry
  • Supervised postgraduate and PhD students

Tutoring Approach

My background in university and commercial scientific research provides me with an excellent in-depth knowledge of the the science subject, greatly exceeding the A-level syllabus. This allows me to discuss many problems using a wide array of real examples and from many different perspectives.
