I left industry and commuting several years ago in order to be able spend time with, and care for, my three young sons. As I am now based locally I can devote more time to tutoring.

Tutoring Experience

I have a BSc and MSc in physics, as well as a PGCE teaching qualification. The bulk of my teaching experience has been in one to one tutoring though I have some experience of small revision classes. I have always preferred this method of teaching as it allows a better focus on the student's specific learning style.

Tutoring Approach

I have a relaxed attitude to tutoring which usually helps the student feel more comfortable, and hopefully avoids the session feeling like just more school. I try to identify the specific areas that the student may be having problems with, as not fully understanding one area can make the subject as a whole feel difficult.
I like to use analogies and real life examples as much as possible to make physics more accessible and learning more fun.
