I am a friendly, organised tutor with experience at A Level and GCSE level Maths. In A Level I have experience in Pure 1&2, Statistics, Mechanics, Decision and more. I also have a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Durham University and can provide tutor services for Economics A Level or University level.

Tutor experience:
I have been a Maths tutor for 2 years and have had several students from a range of backgrounds and goals in their studies. I have tutored across all major exam boards and across both A level and GCSE. I also am able to tutor online or in person around South West London. Some of my students have aimed for just a pass whereas others have aimed for As and A*. I adapt my lessons based on the exam board, current grade, and goals of each student.

I really enjoy working with students who are keen to learn and dedicate extra time to achieving their goals. I enjoy getting to know the students I work with and encouraging them to work at the topic until they feel confident in it. It has been very rewarding seeing students achieve their goals and progress on in their academic life.

Academic Background:
During A levels, I completed both AS and A2 Maths in one year alongside each other, which was a steep learning curve. Initially, I was predicted a C, due to the fact I struggled learning the more complex A2 content before having learned the AS content- however I developed a rigorous learning and revision plan which got me an A*. This enabled me to study Economics at Durham University.

I studied Economics at Durham University from 2015 - 2018, which involved advanced mathematics including deriving formulas, mathematics modelling and algebraic simplification. I really enjoyed the mix of mathematics and business in my course.

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored maths at various levels and exam boards both in person and online. I have also tutored students with a range of different goals, including those who just want to pass, and those who want to aim for an A.

Whichever end of the scale you are at, I am happy to help with your understanding to ensure you meet your targets.

Tutoring Approach

I will always tailor tutor lessons to the student and their needs. We will agree at the start of our lessons what topics need extra work and a high level lesson plan, which can be shared with the student and parent.

Each lesson typically will involve 1-3 topics, depending on how similar the topics are and the students level of understanding. A lesson usually involves recap of key understanding of the topic, easier practice questions and then more difficult exam questions, which we can work through together and mark against the mark scheme. This helps students to be aware of what markers look for so that they can maximise points in the exam. At the end of the lesson, I can provide additional questions for homework if the student would like extra practice.

I ask that students please let me know at least 3 days before the lesson if they have any specific requests in addition to the content agreed. This ensures I have time to find any relevant questions and/or mark schemes to support your lessons and maximise our time together!
