This is how 2 referees rated Helma:
I am a 51 year old experienced primary school teacher and mother, who loves nothing better than watching children blossom. My interests include family, theatre and country walks. I have a very nurturing approach to teaching and learning and know that a child makes most progress with well matched, individualised and adapted teaching. I give 100 per cent dedication to each and every child I teach, both in the classroom and with one to one tuition.
I have over 20 years experience as a full time Primary School Teacher. Currently, I am a year 4 class teacher in a local primary school. Previously, I have taught all year groups across the primary phase, including year 6. In addition to this, I was employed as a Reading Recovery teacher for 6 years and taught children with dyslexia. With regards to personal tuition, I have successfully prepared students for SATS and entrance exams for private schools; taught children to read; developed students’ skills in Maths and English and, perhaps most importantly, boosted confidence!
My approach to tutoring is to ascertain what your child already knows and then from there, plan lessons based on what the next steps for learning are. The way I teach is highly personalised to suit your child’s needs. I have over 20 years experience of teaching children English and Maths from ages 3 to 11 years and have also taught children with dyslexia and SEN up to age 15 years. I have a wealth of knowledge, skills and strategies to draw upon, in addition to current expertise in the New National Curriculum as taught in schools today.
