Home Tuition for Maths in Clapham

GCSE Maths tutoring for £25 per hour.

I have 3 and a half years and 330 hours of experience tutoring Maths in Scotland (National 5 and Higher level - which are a similar level to GCSE Maths). Reliable, patient and hard-working, my previous students were always happy with my tutoring. I often found new tutees by being recommended by previous students.

The results of previous students:
(The grading system in Scotland ranges from A - above 70% - to No award - below 40%)
National 5 Maths student: No award -> B
National 5 Maths student: B -> A
Higher Maths student: B -> A
Higher Maths student: B -> A

I am currently a Masters student at UCL studying Comparative Education. I previously studied Neuroscience (BSc) for my Bachelor degree.

I achieved straight As in my secondary school exams, including As in Standard Grade, Higher and Advanced Higher Maths. A-level Maths is considered to be between Higher and Advanced Higher.

Tutoring Experience

I have always been interested in education and, in addition to my 3 and a half years of tutoring, I have a lot of experience working with children and in teaching roles:

  • 9 months as an English teaching assistant in a secondary school (2021 - 2022)
  • 3 months as an English teacher in a private academy, teaching mostly 12 - 16 year-olds (2021)
  • 4 months as an online English teacher (part-time, 2021 and 2022)
  • 3 weeks as Senior Mentor for a group of twelve 16-year-olds on youth programme NCS in London (2018)
  • 5 months as an Au Pair (live-in nanny) in France (2015)
  • 3 months as Assistant Sailing Instructor at Camp Adirondack in upstate New York, U.S. (2015)
  • 2 months as a volunteer English teacher in an orphanage in Madurai, India (2014)

Tutoring Approach

My lessons will first focus on identifying knowledge gaps. I will attain this information through the student themselves or through doing a few practice questions which cover a range of topics.

I will explain the topic that the student finds difficult and show my calculations in a practice question. We will then work through a practice question together. Following this, we will both do a question independently and I will check the student's work.

As it comes closer to the exam, we will start to do past papers. First, we will go through past papers in class together and I will give advice on revision techniques. I will note any topics in which the student is struggling and we will revise those topics. I will then start to give past papers at the end of class for the student to complete at home. We will go over the answers in class and revise any topics which the student is struggling with. I also encourage the student to bring in any questions they struggled with in school or in homework.

I can offer weekly lessons. If you are interested in tutoring, please get in contact with me. I am happy to travel to your home but only if it is close (less than 15 minutes journey time). Otherwise, we could perhaps organise to meet at a local library.
