Hello, and thank you for looking at my profile.

I teach the following students either online or face to face:-

Primary - Key Stage 1 and 2 Literacy and Numeracy.

Early Years Foundation Stage

Secondary - catch up literacy and numeracy

SEN Literacy/Numeracy- Any age as long as tuition requirements fall within my area of expertise. (I am a qualified to teach primary aged children.)

I pride myself on establishing a good working relationship with the children that I tutor. Children will not do well unless they actually enjoy the lesson. I work hard to make the lessons that I deliver, relevant, interesting and fun.

Each lesson that I teach is planned and based on your child's unique learning needs. You will be provided with feedback via email as to where we are and what needs to be done during the next lesson. Homework will also be provided if you request it.

Tutoring Experience

I hold the following relevant qualifications for tutoring:-

PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) Primary
BSc Hon 2.1 Psychology
Counselling Certificate
DBS checked (police cleared)
Paediatric First Aid Certificate

I have over 25 years experience working with children in various settings. I have worked as a childminder, teaching assistant and teacher. I have 4 years experience working with children with autism, global delay and behaviour issues. I have also worked with young male offenders in prison.

Tutoring is now my main income and it is an area of work that I really do enjoy.

Tutoring Approach

Each lesson that I deliver is always tailored to the needs of the individuals I am tutoring. I work hard at establishing a warm relationship with the children that I tutor because I believe, quite strongly, that the best learning occurs in a safe environment. My approach to teaching is methodical e.g. find the problem, iron it out, move on, revisit etc. My lessons are usually, but not always, broken down into small chunks of learning. This is because it can be hard for younger children to focus for a whole hour on a single topic. I keep my lessons flexible, pick up on cues from the child and adapt and respond to the learning needs of children as and when necessary. I am also a firm believer in listening to what a pupil says and accommodating their views into my teaching.
