Hannah

Hannah has worked as a full-time private tutor since 2009, and has taught over 500 UK and international students in one-to-one, classroom, and online lessons.

Hannah completed her undergraduate degree at the University of St Andrews, where she was awarded First-Class Honours in her research project on the neuromuscular disorder Parkinson’s disease. She then qualified as a Bowen Therapy practitioner, before completing her international teaching degree at the University of Sheffield.

Tutoring Experience

In 2009 Hannah began working full time as a private tutor. Alongside this, Hannah also taught in the French private sector at the prestigious Epitech Montpellier (École pour l'informatique et les nouvelles technologies, also known as the European Institute of Technology) and has also built up strong relationships with a variety of schools within the UK. Aside from the UK, Hannah has previously lived and worked in France, the Netherlands, and New Zealand and has a keen interest in differing international pedagogical approaches and how this can affect attainment levels of students.

Hannah specialises in tuition for students with dyslexia or slow-reading speeds, and is currently studying a Level 5 CPD award in Dyslexia Learning Support.

Tutoring Approach

A-LEVEL BIOLOGY
During her time teaching Hannah, has authored detailed notes on each topic on the A-Level course. As well as this she has an extensive collection of exam questions and mark schemes, grouped together by topic. Each registered student will be given log in details and will have access to all these documents online.

To supplement written notes, students often watch short videos that can help explain difficult topics more easily. Students can also work through a selection of relevant exam questions which can be done together during the lesson, or which the student can do at home in their own time. These are then marked together using the official exam mark schemes so that the student knows exactly what examiners are looking for in a high-level answer.

UNIVERSITY APPLICATIONS
Medical and dentistry BMAT, UCAT, and GAMSAT entrance exam preparation is also available, as well as help with UCAS applications, personal statement writing and interview preparation.

ONLINE TUTORING
Using their unique log in details, students have online access to documents containing detailed notes and diagrams on a specific topic which they then discuss together via Skype during the lesson. Skype is a way of doing free video calls via the internet. Online lessons are more efficient than conventional home lessons, with no travel expenses or time wasted through travel. Lessons also have a greater degree of flexibility enabling many students to continue with tuition whilst abroad during school holidays or away at boarding school.

Hannah's office has fibre optic broadband, which ensures that the internet connection is very fast and that Skype calls are excellent quality.

Missed lessons are charged at full price.
Late payments mean the lesson will be forfeited and the student will be charged as per a missed lesson.
Please email any work to be marked at least 24 hours before the tutoring session to ensure there is enough time to read it through thoroughly.

Lesson length is flexible and can be adapted to suit each student.
Group lessons are available by request.
Revision plans tailored to each student are available by request.
