Online Maths Tutoring

I currently teach Mathematics at a renowned private school and achieved a First Class Honours in my Mathematics degree. I went on to gain my PGCE at Cambridge University. I have taught in top selective schools throughout my career. I am therefore extensively qualified and experienced to teach my specialist subject to a top level. I am proud to say that I achieved my dream of becoming a teacher (rated Outstanding every year) in a subject that I am truly passionate about.

I have been tutoring privately for 4 years, with dozens of references available upon request. Every child has achieved their desired grade or higher, with most aiming for grades 7-9.

Please be aware that the rate advertised is for a small group of 4. Please get in touch to find out which groups have spaces. All lessons are online using Skype.

Tutoring Experience

I am currently teaching at a renowned private school (ages 11-18) and therefore DBS checked. I previously taught at the best grammar school in London (Source: The Times) where I was appointed as Curriculum Leader of Key Stage 3 very early in my career. This role involved creating and maintaining the school's scheme of work which includes the provision and development of educational resources. This means that I have accumulated an abundance of rich materials which extend mathematical understanding.

Having worked in esteemed and competitive schools throughout my career, I specialise in stretching students to achieve top grades. I have taught Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level classes for 9 years so I am confident with the content, demonstrating expert subject knowledge.

Tutoring Approach

For group lessons, students have the opportunity to request a topic, otherwise I will choose something appropriate. I will then explain a concept and ask students to complete questions. They will send their answers to me in a private chat so I can check on their progress and provide immediate feedback. Each student will receive one-to-one help during lessons when needed.

It is important that students do not simply memorise a method or a formula. In order to excel in mathematics, students must have a deep understanding of why methods work and why processes are done in the way that they are. This, in my opinion, means that students become proficient mathematicians rather than simply memorising methods to get by.

Parents/guardians receive regular feedback, but more so if I feel that I can offer advice to help the student improve. My feedback is always honest and based on my comprehensive experience as a school teacher. A collaborative relationship with parents/guardians always produces the best results from the student.
