I am DBS cleared professional tutor of 4 years with BSc (Hons) in Mathematics. I predominantly teach online with great success and amazing feedback from my students.
Hold a BSc (Hons) Mathematics from Plymouth University.
I have been working as a private tutor for the last 4 years, my students ranging from KS3 to A Level, including home-schooled pupils and SEN students. Not only have my students achieved their desired grades but they feel more confident with their understanding of the subject and more capable of independently solving various problems when taking their exams.
I also have 2 years university level tutoring experience where I worked with students from the mathematics and engineering disciplines.
I have been online tutoring for a few years now, my students ranging from KS3 to A Level, with great success. My students say that they enjoy the lessons, feel like they can always send me any questions they have and also they can refer to any work we've done together since it's all saved on the online whiteboard. Sharing work is also easy through the use of an online whiteboard, so the students still get to experience worked solutions and attempt the questions themselves, creating that really unique, hands-on experience.
I tend to support students with the work they are currently going through in school, aiding them with anything they are having a particular issue with and providing deeper insight into the subject to help their understanding.
Going through the set curriculum and passing examination is part of the process but my goal is to ensure that the student truly understands the subject matter and is capable to independently solve new problems as they come across them.
I am always conscious that everyone learns at their own pace and adjust my teaching method to suit individual students. As an example, I try and use real life and relatable examples to explain certain mathematical problems, not only helping the student understand a complex subject but also making it more interesting for them.
Mathematics can truly be fun, but can also seem incomprehensible until someone helps you understand it. I try to bring a little bit of fun to my lessons to give students a more positive approach to this useful subject.
