I have been interested in psychology since I was a teenager and as I am now retired that means I have had a lot of time to gain a very thorough grounding in it. I continue to keep up to date and am particularly interested in the developments in neuroscience.
I have a wide range of teaching experiences with many types of student including prisoners, adults, college and school pupils, I have enjoyed teaching them all.
I am a recently retired Head of psychology department in a grammar school that taught both A level psychology and the International Baccalaureate. I started teaching in 1987 and have taught GNVQ Health and Social Care as well as Open University students. I have also been an examiner for A level psychology, the International Baccalaureate paper one and for an open university child development course.
As a private tutor i have the advantage of personalising the teaching to the learners needs. so the first step is to establish what those needs are. I like to use interesting activities wherever possible to make points ina fun way and to encourage thinking and evaluation of the topics. Learning to evaluate ideas is key to gaining the top marks in psychology.
