Maths and English Teacher in Wigan

I am a Teacher, Tutor and Educational Consultant based in the Wigan area but at the moment I am enjoying being a one-to-one Tutor.
I am married and have two children.
I enjoy being involved in the local community through governance and charities.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a qualified teacher for over twenty five years, which includes being a senior teacher for fifteen years and a headteacher for six years.
I now teach exclusively as a one-to-one tutor and keep up to date with courses and research.
My teaching experience is extensive having taught a whole range of age groups and subjects; from Reception class to Year 11 pupils in all NC subjects; EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2 and maths, science and art in Key Stage 3 and 4. I also enjoy teaching A level maths.
I have also taught functional skills to adults and have many years experience of teaching 11+ and 12+ entrance examinations.

Tutoring Approach

I love to teach on a one to one basis, which allows me to focus on the particular needs of the pupil. It also allows me to use the particularity interests of the pupil to help with planning lessons that are interesting to them.
I have much experience of teaching SEN children and children who have 'dropped behind' in their school work.
I have years of experience in teaching at the primary phase but also have much experience and knowledge in teaching maths at GCSE and A level.
I am happy to travel to pupil locations.
I stick by the mantra that learning should always be rewarding and fun.
