I have a proven track record with tutoring and have had nearly 15 years secondary teaching experience. I deliver a quality service, which is guaranteed to meet your needs. I'm a natural born teacher! In fact I come from a family of them. I love learning and always try to put myself in the position of those I teach, teaching in the way I myself would like to be taught. I graduated with a 1st division, 2nd degree honours BA in Film, Theatre and Television studies at Reading University 16 years ago. I have had some experience in the communications industry working for the Media Guardian, before deciding to become a teacher, which I have now been doing for fourteen years - with great results. I pride myself on enabling each student to achieve THEIR best, I wholeheartedly believe that every child has something very valuable to offer and if I can impart knowledge to the next generation, even in a small way, I have succeeded. I currently work at an Independent day and boarding school called Cobham Hall in Kent, where my sister also works. It's a fantastic environment with great values and I feel privileged to be able to pass on some of what I have learnt there.

Tutoring Experience

1 Year PGCE at Robert Napier Comprehensive School and Holmesdale Technology College
3 Years Teaching at Rochester Grammar School for Girls.
10 Years Teaching at Cobham Hall School, Independent Day and Boarding for Girls.
6 Years full time private tutoring experience to A-level: -
I recently learnt that my tutee received an A grade at A-Level in ONE year. He is now off to study film at Warwick University.

Tutoring Approach

Organised, Challenging, Fun and Purposeful. It is my view that children and adults, everyone, learns best when they are motivated, interested and actually achieving something tangible. My general method involves assessing the needs and abilities of the tutee and planning a program that suits them as an individual. Everyone is different in their learning style; I may encounter one student that learns in a more physical way, compared to another that likes dedicated reading tasks. It is my job to differentiate tasks according to how each student learns best. Another of my aims is to make sure that students are fully aware of what's expected of them, in terms of my expectations and more importantly those of the exam board. A tutee can only achieve the specific assessment objectives if he/she knows what they are.
