I am a UK based primary school teacher, offering to tutor English to primary age school children. I offer 7 Plus and 11 Plus entrance school exam preparation for children including interview practice. I teach all subjects but have a particular focus on English, helping children with their creative writing and reading comprehension.
Although I love my job as a teacher, I am passionate about working with children on an individual basis as it allows me to get to know a child’s unique strengths and weaknesses and to design lessons which focus on their individual needs.
Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked in the City of London as a successful Marketing Manager where I developed and marketed web-based products. However, after the birth of my two children, I became fascinated with child development and realised that I wanted to pursue a career in teaching. I have never looked back!
I have tutored many children over the past six years with a high pass rate to schools such at St Pauls School in London, Kings College in London, Highgate School and Eltham College. Other successes have included Grammar School 11 Plus passes in schools such as Dartford Grammar and Townley Grammar School for Girls. I have worked with many children where English is not the first language spoken at home and have enjoyed helping them with their vocabulary and sentence structures when writing.
I have worked in two primary schools since I qualified as a teacher twelve years ago. I currently work in a local primary school and I teach a Year 5 class three days per week. As result, I have relevant and up-to-date knowledge of the curriculum. I have taught in all age phases from Early Years to Year 6 and know what is expected of each year group throughout primary school.
After an initial conversation with parents, I will assess your child to understand the gaps in their knowledge. I will then work with your child to unpick the areas that they need help with in order for them to achieve their goals. Lessons will consist of mixture of activities designed to maximise their progress. I am happy to provide weekly feedback to parents about the progress their child is making. I am a warm, friendly and caring professional and enjoy finding ways to engage and motivate children.
