Experienced maths tutor currently studying a PhD in applied mathematics at the University of Liverpool. My research concerns wave propagation in elastic media and lattice structures.
I have experience tutoring mathematics to all ages, both 1-to-1 and in groups. For my PhD I am also required to speak at conferences and seminars, and I enjoy the challenge of presenting my research in a unique and entertaining way.
Mathematics is a fantastic tool to solve real life problems, not a series of formulae to be memorised. By taking a first principles approach to my teaching, the student understands the 'why' rather than just the 'how.' This enables them to solve any type of problem, not specific to the examples discussed inside the classroom.
Alongside mathematics I also enjoy design, graphics and animation, which I often use as a visual aid to explain concepts to my students.
