Felicity

I am 44 years old and mother of two teenagers. After completing my BA Hons degree in English Literature with Business, I began my career lecturing in business studies in further education after completing a post 16 PGCE qualification. I then decided to change direction (but not completely!) to complete a Primary age PGCE. I have worked in Primary education ever since. In my spare time I enjoy watching my daughter compete in national and international gymnastics competitions.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 20 years experience working in educational settings, from further education and state schools to independent schools. I have experience of working with children at every Prinary stage - EYFS, KS1 and KS2. I work part time in a local state school and tutor after school, in the evenings or at weekends. I currently work in a year 6 class and so am well versed in the English and maths curriculum and SATs requirements. I am trained in KS1 phonics and can help prepare your child for phonics screening tests and year 2 SATS. I can also prepare your child for senior school entrance exams, tutoring in maths reasoning, English comprehension and verbal and non-verbal reasoning. I also tutor business studies up to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is always bespoke to each individual child. At the initial lesson, I carry out a diagnostic assessment which allows me to carefully select a variety of teaching resources, styles and methods to suit your child. Whilst getting to know your child in the early stages, I tend to find out how they are motivated to learn and develop their lessons around this. This could be via a reward chart or similar. Through these methods, I can help your child gain confidence in their learning to ensure they reach their potential. My teaching philosophy is deeply rooted in the fact that learning should be fun and my enthusiasm for learning always has a positive impact on my students.
