Information About Ewan - Oxford tutor - (1 review)
This is how 2 referees rated Ewan:
I am a very experienced, very friendly and highly flexible tutor and have worked with students of all ages and abilities with excellent results. I also have extensive formal teaching experience and have taught English at both Magdalen College School and Cokethorpe School in Oxfordshire. I hold a degree in English Literature and Language from Harris Manchester College, Oxford and an MA in Shakespeare Studies from The Shakespeare Institute in Stratford where I was a schools scholar. I graduated at the top of my class with a Distinction in my MA. I'm happy to provide references from a number of previous tutoring clients along with copies of my qualifications and an up to date CRB check. I have been very effective at helping students get results regardless of ability including those students who require learning support. In the past I have helped lift student grades including two students who moved their grade from a D to an A on their A2 retakes with my help.
I have a huge wealth of tutoring experience with clients in Oxfordshire with outstanding results in both English Literature and English Language, and in addition I am a fully trained and qualified English teacher currently working in a secondary school. I gained my teaching qualifications in 2012 when I completed the Graduate Teacher Program with an 'Outstanding' grade and I am qualified for secondary teaching in the state and independent sector. I have five years part-time and two years full-time experience as an English teacher working with children at GCSE and A-Level. I have taught all the A-Level Boards, and have a very detailed knowledge of many of the key texts. I am particularly strong on the Renaissance and the 19th and 20th Century. I also have extensive English as a Foreign Language Teaching experience and have taught the German Abitur qualification.
I believe in a friendly, approachable and enthusiastic approach to tutoring. Making the subject enjoyable and accessible is central to my approach, and I believe that students have normally enjoyed classes as well as having learned in them. I do set homework and can offer tests and mock exams to demonstrate progress for parents as required. I normally conduct lessons in client homes provided that is acceptable to you, although I can offer a classroom in central Oxford if required. Hours are flexible but I would normally conduct classes at evenings and weekends. Most clients have either one and a half or two hours per week but I could do as much or as little tutoring as was required upon negotiation.
