I have taught Biology on either a full or part-time basis in Further Education for 18 years. My qualifications include a Biology Degree (Honours) and a PGCE. Due to family commitments I recently gave up my teaching post but I really missed the interaction that I enjoyed with my learners and my subject. I therefore decided to start home tutoring. I have found the experience very rewarding and I now have good experience of home tutoring GCSE and A-Level students.
In the classroom I have taught learners of mixed ability aged 16 plus. My experience includes teaching Biology GCSE, A Level and more recently teaching Biology on BTEC courses. I have worked well with learners who struggle with science and helped them become more confident and achieve their goals.
I aim to pass on my knowledge in a way that suits the individual learner. I spend the first lesson establishing my learners strengths, weaknesses and needs so that I can tailor future lessons to suit their learning styles. My approach is to make my lessons friendly, helpful and interesting using various resources. I want to support my learner and help them take their exams with confidence.
