Elen

Hi, I'm Elen, a primary school teacher in Edinburgh. I have 4 years experience teaching in a Welsh medium primary school in Cardiff and have recently moved to Edinburgh, now teaching in an independent school on the outskirts of the city. I am an approachable, reliable and bubbly individual and an enthusiastic learner, who has a lot of time and patience for helping others.
I have a real passion for educating individuals, whether this be developing a person's study skills, explaining and simplifying challenging concepts or simply guiding and refining their own bright ideas.

I am a fluent Welsh speaker and am happy to offer sessions in English, Welsh or both.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience working in both an English and Welsh language Primary school. I have taught children in years 1, 4, 5 and 6 and have assisted teaching in year 2. I am happy teaching children across the school, be that foundation phase or key stage 2. I have a fresh knowledge of what the new curriculum asks of teachers and of what is expected of pupils of all age.
I have used my musical abilities to help others with their piano exam preparations.

Tutoring Approach

Everyone is different in their way of learning, therefore I will be flexible in my method of tuition; I will adapt each session to suit each individual and aim to identify their strengths and weaknesses to ensure progress is maintained. I will focus on the areas of study they find most challenging, and tackle these in various different ways.
For younger students, this will be in a fun and interactive way to ensure that they stay engaged and interested.
For older students, I will set practice questions as homework and go through past papers with them in order to highlight the areas in which they need the most help.
