I have been tutoring since graduating from Imperial College London with a degree in Biochemistry in 2002.

Tutoring Experience

In this time, I have tutored over 150 students and helped people of wide-ranging ages and levels, including scholarship students, adults wishing to improve English and/or Maths skills, and students with learning difficulties, as well as helping numerous students to pass or reach higher grades in their SATS, GCSEs and A-Levels/retakes. I have an enhanced CRB disclosure and can provide references.

Tutoring Approach

For GCSE and A-Level we focus particularly on exam technique and practice, a crucial area so often overlooked in the classroom. Even students that have covered course material and exam practice well in the classroom have found that one-to-one tuition has improved their subject knowledge, exam skills and confidence. Where exams are not imminent and there is more time available, we assess the student’s strengths and weaknesses and first ensure that he or she possesses the basic skills needed for a solid foundation in the subject. This gives the student the confidence to move swiftly to more advanced topics and rapidly improve academic achievement.
