I have been teaching for 25 years and live in Chelmsford. I spent four years training to become a PE teacher in Plymouth, Devon. I am married to a teacher and have two boys at Primary School. I am a former Head of PE, and now specialise in teaching foundation mathematics. During my time living in Essex, I have played regularly for Brentwood Rugby Club and Brentwood Cricket Club. I also run Sports Stars Summer Camp every August, a multi-activity sports camp for young people which has been running for over 20 years.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught in Devon, Cornwall and East London. I am a former Head of PE and current Deputy Headteacher at St Martin's School in Brentwood. (Outstanding School). I work across our trust of schools and have presented in over 20 schools in Essex and the south-east. Since my move into the senior leadership team in 2007, I have specialised in teaching foundation maths. Which has been extremely rewarding. I have coached teams that have won national, county and district sporting titles in a wide range of sports including basketball, football, rugby, cricket and athletics. I have an excellent track record in helping young people master the basics of mathematics and am passionate about young people being successful.

Tutoring Approach

I will be open, honest and hard working and I will expect the students to do the same. I have access to a huge range of interesting and engaging maths resources that support effective learning. I am well organised and have a sharp eye for detail.
