I am a language and literature graduate, and also a qualified and experienced teacher.
As a parent as well as a tutor, I am aware of the importance of the need to meet a learner at their own level, and inspire them in the subject, as much as possible.
I have taught English abroad, and taught French and Spanish up to A Level at schools, to students with a range of abilities.
I currently work as a tutor, a freelance education writer and an exam marker. Lessons can be face to face or via Skype.
Focusing on Secondary School students, I tailor lessons to meet each pupil's needs. GCSE and A Level students often come with a clear plan of their strengths and weaknesses and I can spend time filling gaps for whichever skills or topics are needed. I try to make lessons varied, including a mixture of grammar, topic work, readings, listenings etc.
I try to inspire pupils in a French and Spanish at secondary level, and I encourage younger English students to read, to expand their vocabulary and to try different types of writing. I can work through GCSE past papers and help highlight themes and essay techniques for the literature.
