I am an economist with a PhD in macroeconomics and have an interest in economic policy and a passion for maths. I have a passion for teaching. I am experienced in economics at all levels from GCSE to university across a variety of courses. I have taught mathematics at ‘A’ level and undergraduate. I am currently focusing on teaching maths and economics at GCSE and ‘A’ level. I have an extensive of prepared notes. I prefer teaching in person at my house, although I can travel or teach online.
I am currently continuing with my research. In my spare time, I am writing a long paper extending my PhD it uses very advanced techniques from probability, topology and algebraic geometry to derive a rigorous solution to the premier model used to guide monetary policymaking by Central Banks.
It involves advanced techniques from probability, topology and algebraic geometry. The paper overturns existing insights about the importance of rational behaviour and has novel practical forecasting implications. I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm with economics and mathematics with my students whilst helping them obtain the best grades possible.

Tutoring Experience

I focus on teaching Economics at ‘A’ level and undergraduate and Mathematics at GCSE and ‘A’ level. I specialise in supporting students studying for the Edexcel ‘A’ level course in economics and the GCSE course in maths. I have an extensive set of notes and particular knowledge of mark scheme and style of exam questions for this board. I am available for both long-term study or short-term revision programmes.
I have a wealth of experience teaching economics at undergraduate and postgraduate level at Cardiff University. I have taught microeconomics, economic policy and econometrics at various levels as well as options such as development economics, industrial economics and financial economics. I have given preparatory mathematical classes for economists entering the Masters programme. I have extensive experience helping students prepare for undergraduate essays and resits. I have access to an extensive and up-to-date set of notes on many aspects of economic policy. I enjoy helping students draft and redraft their work.
I have supported students writing Masters dissertations. I taught a policy course for Masters students where I prepared the course material from scratch at short notice. I particularly enjoyed teaching introductory economics to business management students and I feel some of the techniques developed here will crossover to teaching students at 'A' level where much of the course material is similar. I can happily teach online or in person, I am used to helping students deal with academic anxiety issues.

Tutoring Approach

I emphasise student-focused learning. I seek to tailor meetings to students’ specific interests and aptitudes and encourage feedback. I endeavour to keep things as simple as possible, whilst hinting at more advanced topics and ideas that might aid students' general understanding of the topic or allow them to obtain extra evaluative credit in an essay. I have experience of marking both mathematical and essay-based work. I begin each teaching assignment by studying the relevant syllabus and scheme of work. I am enthusiastic about my subject and am committed to helping my students to perform their very best in examinations and assignments.
I often prepare extra notes, if I have to teach a new topic or area of confusion.
