Very organised, clear plan good communication

Dave tutored my son A Level Economics. My son got a Grade A. His subject knowledge, teaching style, knowledge of the spec and what examiners look for, online and mock tutor exams were all key to my son’s fantastic results. Highly recommended.

We sought a tutor for our son in Autumn, Yr 12.Despite working hard at Economics, he was stuck at "C" grade and we felt that effective tutoring would be money well-spent.
David interviewed us as much as we did him. He immediately gave the impression of the organised, competent insightful professional that he is and we went ahead , impressed with his no-nonsense approach and structured course content to cover all bases, along with the patience and flexibility to address residual problems.
Dave is a strict taskmaster, work must be submitted on time and fully attempted, he demands serious commitment. As an Economics graduate myself I could recognise that the study materials David uses are current and relevant, his mock exams stretching, promptly marked and useful feedback given.
What we didn't expect was the empathy that Dave showed to our son when he hit a really bad patch at school. Dave kept him focused and helped him to believe in his abilities when his confidence had taken a battering.
Dave's organisational skills helped with other aspects of our son's revision process, helping him to devise and fine-tune a timetable like nothing I have ever seen before: t was measurable, accountable, invaluable as was Dave's advice with that all important personal statement!
Our boy received offers from four Russell Group universities for the course of his choice, PPE. He achieved a very high A grade in Economics (despite sitting one paper with Glandular Fever)and was accepted at Warwick, his first choice university.

We were concerned about our son doing A-Level Economics and made it a condition that he work with David at the beginning of the course. Over the last two years, David has worked with him and helped him improve assessment upon assessment to obtain an A grade which has enabled him to obtain a place studying Economics and Politics at a top rated RG University! Dave is a very responsible and patient teacher. He explains things very well and has a structured approach to lessons. He is very punctual. He provides additional materials. I was very satisfied with my lessons with him.

We were incredibly lucky to find Dave, our daughter was sitting on a D in Business Studies A Level, very much regretting having taken it. David was an amazing tutor. He taught me techniques and how to structure my answers. The biggest help was that he is an official examiner so i got an insight of how my a levels were marked. My predictions for business and economics was C C and in my last mock i received 2 Us. But thanks to david in the last 4 months i started getting more marks and was able to receive B B in business and economics so i really appreciated his time effort and energy.

A fantastic tutor taking our son from a predicted D grade to a B in one year. Dave started working with our son in the summer at the end of his Lower VIth (Year 12). His online teaching is excellent and very accessible for a dyslexic student, who after several Covid lockdowns was heartily sick of the online approach. Dave provided great advice and support regarding the predicted grades and UCAS application process and we especially appreciated his clear communication and regular, separate update sessions for parents. David has been excellent for my daugther Amber, within a day he was able to evaluate her weak areas and tailor a plan to help fill the void of how exactly to take the material learned and evaluate and self assess her own knowledge of subject matter. An excellent teacher. Started teaching my daughter at the beginning of year 13 and made such a big difference. Very professional, compassionate and great motivator. My only regret is that we didn’t have David from the early start of A levels.

Dave created a plan at the outset with Mike (our son) which enabled them to focus on areas with less focus at school and those which Mike felt weakest at. In addition he ensured coverage of all aspects of micro and macro a economics so there were no leaping gaps.His lessons were very interactive, with continuous documentation being provided on line. He was always exceptionally committed and made use of continuous assessment through homework based upon A LEVEL spec questions in order to plan the next phase. Dave always provided fast feedback for this and it informed his and Mike’s next steps. Mike was successful in achieving an A grade at A level and I am almost sure it wouldn’t have been far from an A star. Mike grew in confidence due to Dave’s tutoring and was continually top of his class because of this. I would strongly recommend Dave as being the most positive, hard working, enthusiastic and consistent tutor that one could find.

Very well structured approach to assessment and development of a plan. Very clear presentation and discussion of the topics. All in all, I feel Dave is helping my son develop a more in-depth approach to his A-level economics whilst gaining confidence.

Dave has been tutoring our son Oliver for the last 18 months for both A Level Business and Economics. This was preceded by a difficult move between countries, where our son did not integrate well into his new school.

Dave has turned around a very difficult situation. We have been pleased with Dave’s firm, but fair approach, making the subjects interesting, using good virtual classroom tools and placing a lot of attention on getting results through practising past papers.

Dave has communicated well with us throughout the process to ensure any issues were addressed early on.

Oliver achieved an A* grade in his A Level Business and a B in his A Level Economics (the latter being attained in 12 months of study). I cannot praise Dave enough for his determination and support in motivating our son to achieve the grades he needed to get into university.

My son received online tutoring from Dave in the run up to his A levels. Dave brought him from a C to a B in a short period of time and I have confidence that the grade would have been higher still, had his studies and exams not been halted due to Covid. Dave formed a workplan for my son, focussing on areas where he was dropping marks, solidifying what he knew, broadening his knowledge and working on exam technique.

Dave was very organised and professional and it didn't take her long to get the hang of her online lessons.He really helped with her A level Economics planning the subject areas to be covered in each lesson and especially helping her to improve her essay writing.

David provided excellent tuition for my son from about half-way through Year 1 of his A level study period through to revision for his final exams. During this time my son went from a complete lack of confidence in Economics, achieving C and D grades to enjoying Economics and ultimately achieving grade B at A level. Dave provides lots of structure, additional reading and personal support. Highly recommended.

Dave tutored Sunny with her Sixth Form entrance exam in ECO. Although she had limited time for preparation Dave helped Sunny prioritised each topic and made most of it . Sunny is more confident now with ECO and ready to take an entry exam. I would recommend Dave to anyone because he knows his subject well. From the parental perspective, Dave quickly put me at ease at our initial meeting and gave great advice. After taking quite a lot of information from M… about her course, he made an initial assessment of what he thought was needed to support her, and explained the different formats the tuition could take, whether it be online or physically present.

He was honest about the amount of work M… would need to put in to improve on her predicted school grade - this both gave her clear guidance of best approaches, and spurred her on, whilst at the same time providing a time-bound structure for her to work to. For the past academic year, my son has been having weekly on-line tutoring with David to support the first year of his Economics and Business Studies A Levels. David is always reliable and prompt and flexible. The WebEX software was very easy to set up and use. Dave completed the impossible and I want everyone to know that I cannot recommend this services enough. My 18 year old son is not an easy student. He decided to do his business studies A level at home within a year. During that time, Dave was his only tutor. Our son was unfocused, often missed deadlines and was incredibly lazy. His dad and I were pulling our hair out… but Dave NEVER waivered. He is extremely professional. He prepared written plans with short term goals to achieve. He chased him for homework, and never let him get away with just fobbing him off.

Towards the end of the year, our son realised the need to work, and Dave just made it happen. He was always able to help, and made the lesson very exam focused and fun. Dave always believed that he could get our son to pass his exam… and he made sure that he did. His structured exam focused approach made sure that our son was exam ready. He also talked to him during the lessons to try and guide our son is a more positive direction.

Our son got a C in his A'level. This was an incredible achievement bearing in mind Dave was working with a student (who for the most part of the year) was not really interested in his studies.

To other potential parents looking to hire a business studies tutor - I cannot recommend Dave high enough. He is clearly very experienced with dealing with students, and extremely familiar with the exam curriculums and specifications. He is very results driven, and was excellent about preparing detailed learning plans, weekly (and sometimes daily) goals. He completely delivered on his promise to us. Dave worked online with my son for his Edexcel A2 Economics to improve his exam technique and give him confidence. He achieved an A when he'd been predicted a B. Thank you Dave.

My son received Economics A level tutoring from David for approximately 9 months. We were slightly sceptical to begin with as to how effective on line tutoring would be but, after one or two initial glitches which David helped us to resolve, the tutoring worked well. David provided clear explanations and particularly helped my son to link theoretical concepts to the real world. In addition he provided excellent help with exam technique. Thanks to David's help, my son was able to raise his final A level mark from a predicted C to the B that he required for his chosen university course.

My son struggled with Economics so we decided to find him a tutor but unfortunately there were no local economics tutors in our area. I did initially have reservations about using an online tutor but had little option . We were very impressed with how organised and professional Dave was, in the setting up and running of sessions. Always on time, plus he often emailed information for my son prior to the session and then further information following the session. I would have no hesitation in recommending the online aspect. Plus Dave as a tutor was knowledgeable, clear and concise, and very patient! My son was grade E for the mock but managed to finally achieve a B, much to his delight. This enabled him to get into his first choice University. There is no doubt in my mind that without Dave's help this would have not been the case. He managed to raise my son's confidence and plenty of practise with Dave meant that he knew how to approach the questions and ensure that the points that needed to be covered were addressed. Very pleased with Davids tuition of my son who was struggling with his business studies A'level. We only had 8 lessons to get through the mock exam but my son definitely felt alot more confident. We use David for on -line tutoring and we were initially sceptical about how successful this would be for my son.
However , we found the technology very user friendly ,simple to install and very quickly my son felt very comfortable using it . (It even incorporates two way wipe boards )
David spends a great deal of time getting to know the pupil and their requirements plus making sure one is comfortable with the technology before he begins tutoring all of which he does without charge.
