Personal Description:

I am passionate about education, learning and development and have expertise in tutoring, coaching and mentoring students. I relate to, and get on with, people. I teach Business Studies and Economics both to UK and international students (see tutoring experience).

I provide both face to face 1:1 tutoring at home and online in my global online classroom to UK and international students. 70% of my tutoring to final year "A" level students was online.
I tutor home schooled students (see Natalie's reference) and provide online tutoring for A level groups in schools to add value / cover absence.
Individual and group tutoring (subject to demand) are also available during school holidays.
I also provide boarding school exam preparation for economics to International Students wanting to begin "A" levels at UK schools.

A Level Results
2018 (so far) 7 "A"s, 11 "B"s and 6 "C"s. Average grade improvement for long-term tutoring 1.7 grades
From 20 A level results I have bettered grade improvement from long-term tutoring on average improving students
grades by not far off two grades. I am delighted with these results. Of course some students improve by 1 grade to achieve an "A" grade whilst a few really focused students have improved by 4 grades. The odd student has stayed the same. There are many factors which contribute to success. From 4 student's short-term tutoring I have an average grade improvement of 1 grade. Long-term tutoring is key to success.

2017 1 "A*", 6 "A"s and 8 "B"s, 4 "C"s. Average grade improvement for long-term tutoring 1.5 grades from 8 results. Average grade improvement from short-term tutoring was 1.1 grades from 11 students. Quite a lot of students I tutor throughout the whole academic year to help them maximise their potential, and these "A" level results reflect this. Students are going to Cambridge, Durham, St Andrews, Birmingham, Nottingham, Newcastle, Leeds Uni etc … I have over 15 years experience in education and training within industry managing, designing and delivering learning solutions, both on a one to one basis, to classrooms of students and to thousands of students. I am a qualified teacher and have 9 year's teaching, face to face and online tutoring experience with impressive outcomes.

I have deep subject matter knowledge from my roles in industry combined by a real ability to engage with students, bring subjects to life and explain things really simply. I have worked in education at schools, within Businesses, in Banking and in Information Communication Technology and am able to provide tutees with real life practical examples in business and economics which really adds to their learning.

As a volunteer I have been chair of a local sports club junior section managing over 280 juniors, 40 coaches and volunteers. I'm known for a sense of fun and humour, facilitating people's development bringing the best out of them by bringing subjects to life. I'm a former hockey and tennis coach, am married with a couple of teenagers so I understand the parent's view. I have coached a junior hockey team to three County Cup wins in a row.

Tutoring Experience:

A qualified teacher, I have nine years successful teaching and tutoring experience at GCSE and "A" level with excellent feedback from my students and effective outcomes, including high grades at "A" level. My references and feedback scores support this and further provide you with an assurance of professional quality tutoring. I rely on providing an excellent service to develop both my reputation to clients and my business.

Over the summer 2016 I undertook continuous professional development on the new A Level specifications and attended formal training and have attended further formal training in June 2017.

Note: As well as the common exam boards, for Business Studies I tutor Cambridge International, and am tutoring students from overseas, including students from the UAE, Russia, India, China, Ukraine, Portugal, Austria and Spain. Cambridge Int reference below:

Our daughter decided to study Cambridge International Exam Board As and A2 Business Studies in one year while attending an International School in the Middle East. To support her school lessons, Dave tutored her online throughout the full year. Using his experience in business, he made the subject extremely interesting for her. He gave her confidence in her studies and provided her with excellent exam techniques coupled with invaluable examples. All of which enabled her to achieve her A*. (Note - the student received the highest grade in their subject in their country)

Tutoring Approach:

I find out what you want and need, and work in partnership with you to meet agreed objectives by playing to your strengths, bringing subjects to life and engaging with you. I facilitate, teach and test. My life experience and deep knowledge of subject matter, education learning and development, core skills and assessment criteria coupled with a personality which gets the best out of students, provide exceptional added value. I would really like the opportunity to help you develop.

With deep experience in online learning built up over 15 years, I have developed my online tutoring classroom using professional broadband and online web collaboration tools including whiteboards and document sharing capability. Check out the feedback from Keeley, Ruth, Emma, James and Josh to give you the customer's view of my online classroom and tutoring.

I provide a quality tutoring service and have always invoiced myself, typically after every couple of lessons, albeit block payment in advance is an option if that better meets your needs. There is a minimum 8 hour tutoring contract. The first lesson is free of charge and without obligation and is used to engage, understand the need, plan and for online, test that online is working.
