I have been a teacher for over 10 years and am currently employed as Head of Humanities at a Buckinghamshire school, as well as by AQA as an examiner. Aside from work, I enjoy spending time with my young family, travelling and sports such as rugby, swimming, football and hiking.
I worked for 1 year in Germany teaching English and completed my PGCE on the Isle of Man in 2007. My Initial post as a Geography teacher in Buckinghamshire was for 4 years. As Head of Geography at my second Buckinghamshire school, results and uptake improved dramatically. I was Head of Humanities in my 3rd Buckinghamshire school applied the strategies across all Humanities subjects very successfully, culminating in a dramatic increase in results. My current challenge is to replicate the success as ahead of Humanities in a school in Hertfordshire. In addition to teaching, I have also been an AQA examiner for the last 4 years. I also have experience with the Welsh board, EdExcel and OCR.
My approach to teaching is to inspire students to learn by ensuring they enjoy the subject. I use various methods to differentiate and get the best from students and ensure progress by focussing on revision techniques, exam technique and concept understanding.
