This is how 2 referees rated Danniel:
My name is Danniel , I am a 31 year old teacher and a proud father of two.
I am able to tutor Wenesday and Fridayevenings.
I am able to tutor both English and Maths at primary level.
I completed my Primary PGCE with a specialism in Maths (July 2009) and immediately took up a full-time teaching position at a very good Warrington school. I am in my seventh year of teaching and currently fulfil the roles of Maths, Pe and Gifted & Talented co-ordinator. I teach Year 5 but have had experience across the key stages. Prior to being a teacher, I worked as a teaching assistant for 3 years.
Working as a teaching assistant gave me a unique insight into the needs of individual children in the class. During this time I delivered many whole class sessions, though I particularly enjoy delivering small group/individual sessions. Small group work and one to one play a big part in my teaching practice. I make a great effort to closely monitor the achievement if the children in my class and ensure that intervention is swift. These sessions allow me as a teacher to give more directed teaching to cater to the needs of the children in that group. This kind of directed and specific teaching has proved to be very successful. I believe that this is a strength of my teaching and puts me in a very strong position to be a successful one-to-one tutor.
I honestly believe that every child is different; therefore, as a teacher, you must adapt your approach to meet those needs. In my sessions, I try to make every child realise that it is ok to get things wrong every now and then, as long as we take the time to look back at our work to identify where we have gone wrong, understand the mistakes we have made and think carefully about what we can do to fix it.
With regards maths, I try to make the child realise that they don’t need to be scared of numbers, that they can actually be enjoyed! I aim to make my sessions as interactive and engaging as possible.
In literacy, it is important to ensure that the children are enthused and want to write - without this enthusiasm, children will not produce their best work. I aim to find interesting ways to introduce literacy skills that are fun and interesting, with the use of ICT where appropriate.
Confidence can be a huge barrier when it comes learning. If a child lacks confidence then they will struggle to try new things out of fear of being wrong. One of my keywords for teaching is ‘Potential’. Every child as a right to achieve their potential no matter what it is, and it is my job to help them. All I ask from my students is that they try their best and I promise the same in return.
