Hello! I’m Danielle. I am currently a PhD student in the Faculty of Medicine and recently graduated with first-class honours in my Molecular Bioengineering (MEng) degree at Imperial College London. I have received many awards during my studies at Imperial and am an experienced tutor who is currently tutoring GCSE, A-level and IB students. I’ve tutored for more than 4 years now with over 20 students; 100% achieving A*- B for A-levels and GCSE or Grade 7 in IB. I’m always more than happy to explain things/concepts multiple times and in different ways to ensure my students fully understand and grasp a specific concept.
I teach GCSE, A-level and IB Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Maths. I have more than four years of tutoring experience where I've tutored over 20 students from KS3 to A-Level/IB in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Most of my A-Level students achieved an A/A*, with 100% achieving an A*-B. All of them achieved higher than their predicted grades. My main goal is to help my students develop their understanding of the subjects and improve their ability to answer exam questions. Although an excellent understanding is vital to solving the questions, there is also a particular exam technique for achieving an A* in exams such as the A-levels or the GCSEs.
I design my classes based on my student's abilities and optimal learning styles. I believe that a good tutoring approach recognises the diverse ways people learn, so I tailor lessons accordingly to create an engaging and enjoyable learning experience. For example, I am primarily a visual and kinaesthetic learner. I understand concepts better when presented with visual aids (diagrams or charts) and actively engage in the question/activity independently. As a tutor, I establish a positive and supportive relationship with my students to understand their strengths, weaknesses, and interests and, subsequently, adapt my teaching style based on my students' preferences (visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, and read/write). My lessons are interactive, where I engage with my students through discussions to enhance their understanding and retention and encourage them to ask questions, explore their interests, and pursue independent research. My lessons are usually 2 hours long, but this is open to discussion.
