Claudia

Hi there! I'm Claudia, 37 years old from Italy. I hold a PhD in Anthropology and I am an award-winning documentary film-maker. I have a BA and MA in Film Studies from the University of Pisa and Rome (summa cum laude), and a MA in Anthropology from the University of Rome (summa cum laude).
I've been living in London for 9 years now. In the past 20 years, I lived in different countries and travelled around the world. I researched in indigenous villages in India and Mexico within the frame of my anthropological studies and directed ethnographic documentaries mostly in Latin America and Europe.
I'm a very enthusiastic and communicative person and I truly enjoy tutoring students in the areas of Italian language and Social Sciences.

Tutoring Experience

I taught Anthropology to Undergraduate students at Goldsmiths, University of London. In the past, I have taught Italian and English in Mexico and France. I hold a Postgraduate Certificate of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Tutoring Approach

I provide teaching and assistance in the areas of social sciences (particularly anthropology) and the Italian language.

Anthropology:
My expertise lies in the anthropology of gender, feminist theories, anthropology of art, Latin American studies, performance studies, qualitative research methods, development studies, visual anthropology and ethnographic film-making. I am an organised and punctual tutor and work carefully with the students within time constraints and tight deadlines.

Social science coursework:
For Undergraduate and Postgraduate students who are looking for help with written coursework, I provide clear recommendations on how to structure the essay, engage with the relevant literature and build a convincing argument. I always read the essay thoroughly and provide written feedback where I discuss the strengths and limitations of the essay and make clear recommendations for content, structure, and style improvement. I use on-text comments to make specific suggestions.

Italian:
I welcome university students and adult learners with a basic, intermediate or advanced level of Italian for one-to-one or group sessions. I have a dynamic and interactive teaching style, drawing from film, art, music and all the subjects you might be interested in. Your class will be always tailored according to your needs.
