Personal Description:

Friendly, professional and effective tuition. Since getting my 1st in BA History from Oxford I have had five years of experience as a professional tutor in London and a proven track record in tutoring History, Humanities, and Writing Skills. I have worked with students at schools like St Paul's and the Harrodian, and taught in China, America and Japan.

I am thorough in covering the subject specifications, and I have a down-to-earth and fun tutoring style. I'll let you in on all the tips and tricks that I've learned over the years, and liven things up with images, videos and doodles, as well as discussion. I'll explain it inside-out if I need to! Because that's my job - I want you to feel completely confident in your grasp of the subject. Plus I'm a creative tutor - I also have a postgrad in Art!

Tutoring Experience:

I work successfully with students who have different needs. I have helped high-flying students comfortably secure those top grades. My own academic background means that I am able to stretch and inspire high achievers. Oxford tutorials are 1:1 or 1:2 with world experts. I was lucky enough to benefit from this top-notch education and it informs my own teaching.

I am especially proud of my record in helping struggling students to really turn things around, hugely boosting their confidence, and translating that into exam grades that exceed expectations, going up 1, 2, or even 3 grade boundaries.

Are writing skills holding you back? I love to help students get their ideas on to paper. In fact, I used to find essay writing difficult in school myself. But I taught myself how to do it well enough to excel in a History degree at Oxford, and I even won an award for my dissertation! I know from experience that I can teach those skills to others.

I also have extensive experience with younger students, including teaching for two years as a specialist 11+ preparation centre, with students getting into top competitive schools in South London.

Tutoring Approach:

PLEASE NOTE: ALL MY TUITION IS GIVEN ONLINE. Please see my reviews for confirmation that this is a good alternative! I use Skype and an online document sharing platform (nothing to install, it is just a webpage) making tutorials flexible - we can look at documents and sources, and discuss, type and edit them together just as in face-to-face. In addition, because online tutorials are much more flexible for my schedule, I am able to offer a significant 20% discount, meaning that wherever you live you can access a top quality tutor for a more affordable rate.

I am an bubbly and positive tutor who recognises the dual importance of confidence and understanding for a student's learning. I plan my tuition as a comprehensive course to address the exam syllabus systematically while building the key skills and I believe this is why I have such a good track record of affecting measurable improvement in grades. I tailor my tutorials to each student's aims and learning style. I normally make use of interactive oral, written, and visual learning techniques when explaining. Confidence and interest are key to good learning and I enjoy bringing creativity and cheerfulness to my teaching.

I highly recommend online tutoring as an alternative to face-to-face. Of course it is different, but it isn't all drawbacks and, as you can see from my reviews, my students agree that it is just as effective. In online sessions we can work together using sources, images, and writing. I have a drawing tablet which I like to use to bring concepts to life. Overall, online tutoring is an attractive option to consider as it works out as convenient and more affordable.

I have completed teacher training courses with Keystone Tutors, The Royal Drawing School, and Oxbridge Summer Camps Abroad.
