Information About Claire - Shipley tutor - (6 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Claire:
I am an Honours Graduate in German from Liverpool University where I also studied French as a subsidiary subject. I gained an A grade in English A Level and have been teaching English both as my day job (till 2015) and as a private tutor for the past 5 years. I am based in Shipley and have two teenage children.
I have considerable experience of teaching English Functional Skills to 16-19 year olds and work at Bradford College. I also have a good knowledge of the GCSE syllabus for English, following AQA Edexcel, or OCR exam board specifications. I have taught GCSE English over the past 5 years to young people, with all my students achieving their desired high grades. I also have experience of teaching English to adult learners whilst at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College and at Bradford College.
My approach is flexible, depending on the wishes of the tutee. In the case of GCSE students my aim is essentially to look at specific areas which the tutee wishes to improve and focus on the requirements of the syllabus, mark scheme and look at past papers. I will help with Literature analysis and with developing the students' ability in their written English. For more casual students, I would be guided by their wishes and would be happy to help with oral, comprehension and written skills in English.

As you know, Richard and I wanted to learn German for business and leisure. We had a wonderful time learning the language with you, and fed off your enthusiasum for it. I think that Richard progressed a little further than me because he had a basic knowledge from school, and that lack of groundwork did hinder my ability to retain all that we learnt. We appreciate your time in sourcing the course books and literature that supported our lessons as we still refer back to them now!
