I am a fully qualified Primary School teacher and currently hold a permanent full time position as a class teacher in an Aberdeen city school. I am a registered member of the General Teaching Council in Scotland (GTCS) and have considerable experience in teaching all curricular subject areas within a wide range of levels. I have detailed knowledge in all areas of number and beyond number work for numeracy teaching. In addition teaching reading, writing, spelling and grammar skills for literacy.
I am very friendly, encouraging and patient working with children, as I understand all learner's learn in different ways and rates. I aim to work closely and collaboratively with pupils to help promote their confidence and help them progress in areas they need to develop.
I have taught at early, first and second level and have experience from all classes from P1-7. In addition I have experience working at secondary level supporting children with NAT5 Maths.
In line with Curriculum for Excellence, I use an active learning teaching approach, encouraging discussion and problem solving, helping to create confident life long learners. I am up to date with the different programs of study used in Scottish schools and have a wide range of personal resources which can I use to help cater for individual children's needs.I can provide learning opportunities matched to a child's level to help promote their confidence and encourage progression. I will also include both formative and summative assessments to ensure progression in learning.
In addition I am also available to provide help and support with the completion of homework and entrance exams.
