I've been tutoring maths for over 10 years now, and I still get such a buzz from it. I've helped students get into the top universities in the country (and world even) and have helped with KS3, GCSE, A-levels, Entrance exams, and University maths, as well as maths for other subjects such as Economics, Engineering, Nursing and I'm sure many more that I can't think of at the moment (10 years is a long time). I am mostly familiar with the exam boards Edexcel, OCR and AQA.
I love maths, I love the preciseness of it, I love its applications in the real-world, and I love watching a student's confidence and passion in the subject grow with every lesson. I don't only aim to teach maths in preparation for the exam, but I aim to inspire young minds and show them that maths can be fun.
I have a PhD in maths, so I have the ability to answer questions outside the scope of the curriculum, and explain what to expect from each topic as the student progresses through the years. I also have a FHEA teaching qualification.
My fees are reflective of my experience and knowledge in the subject - over the years I've perfected my teaching and have learnt the most effective pedagogic methods to help a student understand and become confident in maths. I know the best ways to prepare a student for an exam, and how to ensure they reach their potential.
Although I mainly do online lessons now in order to help as many students as I can each week, sometimes I may have time for in-person lessons where I do the travelling, therefore saving you the effort and lowering my cholesterol at the same time.
Lecturer and Course Director: Brunel University 2018 - present.
I am the course director of the Foundation year maths course at Brunel. I am also the module leader on two courses: Study Skills and Discrete and Decision Maths. Over the years I have also taught the modules LaTeX, Further Engineering Mathematics, Analytical Methods and Skills for Engineers, Calculus, Linear Algebra and Fundamentals of Mathematics.
I seek to discover the mathematical potential of those I teach and I provide continuous feedback on their progression and encourage and promote their independent learning.
Once you pay the website a small fee to purchase my contact details please get in touch straight away so that we can arrange an introductory lesson. The first lesson is 50% off as it is more an opportunity for me to introduce myself and learn the student's strengths and weaknesses in order to design a lesson plan going forward. Each student is unique, therefore I need this first lesson to determine the best approach.
I have also taught many students with additional needs, please let me know in advance anything I can do to make their learning experience as effective as possible.
