Dear prospective students,
My name is Chloé and I am currently an LLM student at the University of Birmingham, specialising in domestic criminal law and international criminal justice. I achieved a first-class degree from the University of York in 2023 (ranking in the top 10% of all graduating students), and I am very enthusiastic about sharing my extensive legal knowledge with college and undergraduate law students.
My strengths lie in my ability to distil complex legal concepts into digestible insights, making the intricate world of law accessible to all. I am keen on creating custom teaching plans to ensure each student gets the help they need, ranging from problem question worksheets to essay planning or topic overviews.
As a student myself, I know how complex some topics can be. My personal approach includes creating bite-size worksheets for you to understand the topic and perform well on exams, coursework or even presentations.
My expertise lies in domestic criminal law. I have also a keen interest and have aided students in other core topics, such as EU law, land law and public law. My third-year modules were varied and comprised of a criminal trial module, an environmental law module, international criminal justice, and a dissertation on sexual offences (consent and deception). I received an overall of 76% in my undergraduate degree, (University of York) and am on track to receiving a high distinction in my LLM. (University of Birmingham).
I have competed in a number of mooting competitions, as well as undertaken over 7 mini-pupillages, giving me a real-life advantage where I can help students not only academically, but with their future career prospects too, especially if they would like to go to the Bar.
Throughout my legal education, I have served as a mentor for first-year university students and have created a large number of comprehensive worksheets on complex legal topics. These worksheets have proven instrumental in furthering my tutee's understanding of foundational concepts and have become valuable resources for students. They have also been used for problem questions, and as a rough guide on what structure to use. I have successfully assisted students with their dissertations, using my in-depth knowledge to guide them through the research and writing process. I do this by engaging clearly with the student, understanding their project, their ideas, and why they would like to undertake it. From there, we can construct a study plan which works for them, along with potential sources and key areas of contention to look out for.
